MiniEncounters grew out of a church singing group that visited a local nursing home at Christmas. Having seen minis used in this setting; Jade went with them and the visit was a hit. In the spring of 2010 Bobbi took a course on therapy pet programs and has never looked back. Continuing education is important for owners and mini horses alike, and how they are handled every day... and yes they have been in the house! They formed the non profit in 2013 and rely entirely on donations to keep them on the road for visits, insurance, grain and feed, vet visits for annual shots, and their yearly dental visits. Their volunteers are very important to them and greatly appreciated.
Owners Bobbi and Rick
Bobbi grew up with horses and ponies on a farm in Ohio, where 4H was a way of life and every summer culminated with an annual project presented at the fair. POA’s; (Appaloosa colored, small-sized horses, suitable for riding), were their main horse breed; along with grade ponies, Hackneys and Welsh.
Rick grew up in the same area and jumped into horses when they got married. He prefers to stay in the background, but helps tremendously with all things farm-related... priceless.
